Diablo, like so many Blizzard games, came to define the genre that it was.  Almost every single “hack n’ slash” game since Diablo has borrowed some of its traits, such as character skill tree use and a hud system.

These may not seem like revolutionary achievements today, but in 1997 when it was released, Diablo stood as one of the most sophisticated games to date.  Playing as a warrior, you must save the town (Tristram) from a horrible, evil monster.  Blizzard’s remarkable cinematic prowess is showcased in this game as always.

Featuring everything from heavy, evil sounds to lighter, faster battle music, Diablo’s soundtrack is fantastic at showcasing the themes presented in the game.
