Acclaim did a lot for the world of first person shooters on video game consoles.  For one, they attempted to recreate the controls of having a mouse and keyboard like a PC First Person Shooter by having the player move the character with the four “C” buttons, and looking with the analog stick.  This recreated the sense of “free look,” but often was difficult to control.  This is common with the dual analog sticks on controllers today.

Playing as a Native American hero with ancestors that have always protected humanity from evil, you as Turok have a wide range of weapons to use and areas to explore.  Your typical enemy is a  dinosaur (or a creature that resembles a combination of a few different types of them) and you can destroy them in many different (and violent) ways.

The Turok: Dinosaur Hunter Soundtrack is full of jungle beats, heavy bass, and string instruments.
